Day 2 of Amaya's Life (Sunday, May 20/07)
Today it's the 2nd day of Amaya's life - and also 'Uncle Jeremy's' birthday. Uncle Jer wanted Amaya to be born on the 20th - missed it by only 1 day! Speaking of which, you don't always get what you want (...I can hear Mick Jagger singing now...). Becky liked the idea of giving birth at St. Boniface Hospital because they have a couple of birthing tubs. Well, that is, if it just so happens that you give birth on a day when many other women aren't - and that WASN'T the case on May 19! Oh well. Saturday afternoon Mommy and Amaya were moved to the room where they'd stay until coming home. Once again, when I admitted/registered Becky, we requested to have a private room when that time came. Well, when you ask for one I swear the hospital staff are trying to not laugh audibly at you since private rooms are scarce and requested by many. So, Amaya and Mommy had a semi-private room. The good news is that they were in 'Bed 2' - the farthest bed and the one closest to the window (although also closest to the air conditioning - which can't be adjusted). At least 'Bed 2' gave them some privacy. I write all this to say that we were all very pleased to hear on Sunday morning that Amaya and Mommy were doing very well and that they could go home! So, after lunch and a rest (2 photos below), we put Amaya in her new car seat (photo below), bid farewell to the nursing team - who were AWESOME! - and came home!
